All children in early childhood programs need nurturing and stimulating learning environments, but children with special needs may also require some modification of typical classroom experiences in order to thrive. These modifications can seem overwhelming to busy teachers who must decide whether the environment, the classroom equipment and materials, the activities themselves, or the expectations they have of the child must change. This teaching resource book is written to help teachers look at classroom design in a new way and suggests different ways of approaching activities to help children with special needs become successful. By modifying the classroom and activities, all children will be actively engaged.
