Use circle time activities, projects, and games to help preschoolers develop and reinforce math skills that are related to math standards.

The information in this teaching resource is to be used as a guide to help inspire teachers to provide an enriching math program for their preschoolers. A chart spreading the goals out over a suggested nine-month period is included. This chart can be used throughout the year as a quick reference guide. Teachers can adjust the goals to meet the specific needs of a particular class.

This book presents 26 math objectives and a list of activities to reinforce each one. Each unit includes the following components:

• Educational Objectives - The educational objectives provided describe what the child should be able to do upon entering kindergarten. The activities provided in the units should help children develop the skills to meet these needs.
• Vocabulary - The math language, or vocabulary, needed for each objective is detailed here. Incorporate these terms into daily language use whenever possible. Encourage children to do likewise.
• Classroom Activities - Circle ideas, art projects, and games are described here. Directions for assembling suggested games are supplied and patterns are provided on subsequent pages in each unit.
• Listening Activities - Specific one-on-one activities are described that can be presented during large group times.
• Selected Literature - A list of recommended books is included for each unit. These books can be used in a variety of ways to help children grasp the math concepts that are presented to them.
