To aid in this task, this book uses everyday words common to children's environments. These words activate the children's prior knowledge, enabling them to focus on the word itself.
• Beginning and Ending Sounds - Children review consonant sounds at the beginning and ending of a word using acquired skills. Children must synthesize prior knowledge to complete the complex task.
