We use SSL (Secure Socket Layer Technology) - the highest standard and strongest online encryption technology - to ensure that your personal and credit card information remains secure. It provides data encryption, server authentication, and message integrity. All of your personal information, including credit card number, name, and address, is encrypted and located behind several firewalls & filters so that it cannot be read as the information travels over the Internet. SSL comes in two strengths, 40-bit and 128-bit, which refer to the length of the "session key" generated by every encrypted transaction. The longer the key, the more difficult it is to break the encryption code. 128-bit SSL encryption allows you to shop with confidence, knowing that only you and O'Block Books have the ability to access your information.

The SSL technology is used on our Online Order Form where we collect sensitive information (such as your billing name and address and credit card data). You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser or a little closed lock or full key in the browser's status bar, and looking for "https" at the beginning of the address of the web page. You may check the site's security by clicking on the closed lock icon and viewing the site's security certificate. When the billing pages are showing secure, it is impossible for a 3rd party to steal a customer's credit card number or any other information entered or shown on these pages. (Please note: You are asked for your zip code during the beginning of the check-out process in order to calculate shipping charges so all charges are visible before entering credit card information. Since your zip code is not personally identifiable information, these pages do not display "https". The "https" will appear on the Online Order Form page where you are asked for personal information such as billing address and credit card info.)

The SSL certificate on our Online Order Form is also Verisign secured. VeriSign* is the SSL Certificate provider of choice for over 95% of the Fortune 500 and 96 of the 100 world's largest banks that use SSL. They trust VeriSign because of their encryption technology and rigorous business authentication practices. Many SSL providers simply authenticate a domain. VeriSign always requires full business authentication for every VeriSign SSL Certificate issued. You can verify this information by clicking on the Verisign Secured Seal on the bottom of our Online Order Form and viewing the certificate.

O'Block Books uses Plug N Pay Technologies as our merchant software system provider. Plug N Pay was chosen because they comply with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standards and are listed on Visa's Global List of Compliant Service Providers. The PCI Data Security Standards were designed by the major card brands to ensure that merchants maintain the highest information security standard in an effort to protect customers. Both O'Block Books and Plug N Pay Technologies abide by these standards and are checked for compliance by the PCI Security Standards Council on a regular basis.

O'Block Books also takes precautions to protect your information offline as well. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment. They are password protected and have firewalls, filters, and browser security.

We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via email or other direct contact from you. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone.
